Pictured is our Women’s cricket captain, Jayde Gillett, with our C grade captain Mark Tilders. Jayde got the call up today to play for our C grade men’s side and she was a star in the field with two fantastic catches and some some great fielding . It’s a proud day for our club when we can include members of our women’s team into our men’s teams and see them perform above and beyond.

With the Portarlington Women’s Cricket Team to kick off on Sunday, last night we held our season launch, and as much as it wasn’t what we had initially planned it was more than we could have hoped for in the current climate. We had hoped to present this at our Presentation night covid had other plans and last night we finally got to celebrate Portarlington Cricket Club’s most prestigious award, Best Club Person of the Year 19/20. Presented by Simone, we as a club are so proud to announce that the absolute deserving winner, for her efforts on and off the field last year, that Carly Turner was the very worthy recipient of this award. Her hard work and determination in getting the women’s team going, along with all the work with our social events, work in the kitchen and bar as well as being a all round top chick last year definently didn’t go unnoticed and the club is extremely grateful to have such a wonderful person involved in the club. We are also extremely proud to announce Portarlington Women Cricket Team Captains for Season 20/21 are.... Captain- Jayde Gillett Vice Captains- Olivia Hoskin & Carly Turner. Congratulations girls, we are so excited to see what this season brings for you guys. A massive thank you to all the amazing sponsors, without you guys we would not look as good as we do on the field, we would not have all the amazing equipment and protective gear we have! So thank you, thank you!! Last by most certainly not least, THANK YOU to Chips, Denis and Mark for taking on this incredible group of women! Without you guys we wouldn’t be taking the field this week or at all. The time and effort you guys put in to coaching and training us is above and beyond what any club could hope for, again Thank You! Senior training will resume this Thursday the 24th from 5.15pm, Then 11am 26th of Sept (Saturday) then 5:15 every Tuesday and Thursday after that, there will be COVID-19 protocols in place to help us stay COVID-19 free please read below 1. Everyone must wear a mask, unless batting bowling or fielding 2. Everyone must register their attendance upon arrival and leaving (for contact tracing purposes 3. Everyone must maintain hygiene and regularly use the sanitiser available. 4. There is NO sharing of equipment. 5. Each bowler will have their own cricket ball that will not be shared. The bowler shall retrieve their ball. The batsman may throw the ball back if wearing a glove. No bowler shall apply sweat or saliva to the ball. 6. Training will be conducted in groups of 10 and no crossover between those groups during training. 7. Apart from the toilets, the clubrooms are closed. 8. Please follow the directions given by the coach/es and by those appointed by the club to maintain safety. IF ANYONE DISPLAYS SYMPTOMS THEY MUST NOT ATTEND THE CLUB. THEY SHOULD SELF-ISOLATE, GET TESTED, AND REMAIN IN ISOLATION UNTIL THEY, AND ANYONE THEY HAVE HAD CONTACT WITH, IS NEGATIVE. Please feel free to contact the club if you have any questions
